All Moved In! Public Safety Organizations of Farmington NH Settle Into New Building

Groen Construction (GCI) is pleased to announce that the Farmington NH Police Department, Fire Department and EMC has officially moved into their new building last month! We truly enjoyed the opportunity to work with the town of Farmington to build them a new energy efficient Public Safety Building.

In early 2016, Farmington, NH residents approved the new public safety complex project with a 156-34 vote during a town meeting. As the general contractor, Groen Construction replaced the old police and fire stations, which were deemed by officials as being inadequate and structurally deficient. The new building is located on town-owned land – 160 Main Street on Route 153, across from the Farmington Country Club.

The Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) construction took approximately eight months, and the $2.36 million building now houses the town's fire and EMS department and the police department along with vehicles. The building is approx. 19,000 square feet and features storage and bunkhouses for both departments.

The previous Police Department and Fire Department spent about $50,000 a year on utilities in the old building. Based on the construction of the building the town anticipates at least a 25% to 50% savings in utility costs.

"To Groen and their subcontractors, who kept an eye on expenditures and provided suggestions on how to save money; making some changes and modifications without charging or by discounting their fees whenever they could. If we hadn’t received this help and dedication, none of this would have been possible."
